Hello, diesal car goin for MOT in week and a half. Had the emission,s checked?

we were looking at 6.5 on the scale, we r now lookin at just under 2, ok. With it running rich, the exhuste will be sooted up, right. If i put in cleanner do i just drive as normal. Or rag it a bit to clean out system, Any advice pls, Paul
