Does anyone know how long it takes a small melanoma(mole) on the face to spread?

I don't mean exactly, but like are we talking weeks mths. or years? Most likely about in general? I won't hold you to it. It wasn't there last year is all I know. Please give me time answer. Yes I have an appt tomorrow with plastic surgeon, and it will be removed soon.
